The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.
For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders, and he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. Isaiah 9: 2, 6-7
Hope you all had a very special Christmas-I know I did! Looking forward to the New Year!
Love, Nancy

"The Rising Sun will come to us from heaven to shine on those living in darkness." Luke 1: 78-79
The Law of Levity by Brennan Manning
Christmas is a vision that enables the Christian to see beyond the tragic in his life. It is a reminder that he needs the laughter of God to prevent him from taking the world too seriously. The Christian law of levity says that whatever falls into the earth will rise again. Christian laughter is the echo of Christmas joy in us.
If you really accept the mystery of Bethlehem, "glad tidings of great joy," your heart will be filled with the laughter of the Father. "You are sad now but I shall see you again, and your hearts will be full of joy, and that joy no one shall take from you" (John 16:22).
Our mouths were filled with laughter,
our tongues with songs of joy.
Then it was said among the nations,
"The Lord has done great things for them." Psalm 126:2
Merry Christmas! Love, Nancy

"For you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings." Malachi 4:2
My daughter Emily sent me this scripture verse this morning-what a perfect verse. It really points to the "Son" who came as a baby to bring healing to his broken people.
Chemo day was Friday, the 10th, so the 4-5th day blues set in yesterday. Just a pretty general yucky feeling. Today I finally kicked myself out the door and went to Wally World and Hyvee. Now this is some excitement; it does seem funny that this would be a highlight of the day. It is a sunny day, and much warmer, thank goodness. Nice to see beyond the clouds!
Thursday-back to the Dr. for some herceptin-good immunoglobulin fighter stuff. Not many side effects-so yay for that!
Thanks again for the prayers! Let me know how I can pray for any of you (I've got lots of time). Love, Nance

And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. Genesis 1: 3-4
It's been a busy few days. I'm feeling good, so I've been running around-doing some shopping, spending time with friends, and generally being out and about. Friday is the 2nd round of chemo so I'll probably be hunkering down at home for a few days. Got to get out while the gettin's good!
Lately I've been able to see some pretty gorgeous sunrises. Reminds me of a time last fall-Gerry and I woke up really early one Saturday morning and decided to watch the sun come up from our hot tub, with a steaming cup of coffee in hand. Shortly after sunrise we heard some commotion down by the creek east of our house. We saw the biggest whitetail buck either one of us had ever seen, rise up out of the creek bed and run toward the corn field. I'm so glad we had just enough light to witness such a spectacular sight.
Will check in with you all again soon. Stay warm-snow and ice coming Saturday-maybe. Love, Nance

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1: 17
Beautiful, sunny cold day today-at least no snow yet. I had my blood count done today (still a good count all around). The neulasta (white blood cell stimulator) must be pretty good stuff). It's rather strange to look at lab results from a patient view, rather than a med tech view. Guess I look at it from both sides, actually.
Received an infusion of herceptin today. So far it seems to be the drug with the least side effects. Number 2 chemo session will be December 10th. Moving right along!
Even though we can count on change in each of our lives at some time, I am eternally grateful to the One who doesn't change like shifting shadows.
Love you all, Nance

The Lord is my Light and my salvation-whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life-of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1
Hi guys, It's a blustery Monday afternoon. Guess we're looking at some snow flurries later today-wow this seems too soon (how quickly we forget last year).
Am flitting around the house-a little computer work, wrapping presents, making granola, anuything to avoid sitting in one spot too long.
Last Friday I had an infusion of herceptin (the immunoglobulin stuff that targets the HER2 protein)-doesn't take too long at all, and I didn't really experience many side effects afterward. Blood counts were good-thank God!
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving-no black Friday blues?? Angie and Genny tried Target early in the morning, but abandoned their carts and said "never again!" Gerry acually got yelled at by some old duffer at Ace hardware. As Emily would say; "calm the emotions!"
Love to you all, and remember "no fear". Nance

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8: 12
Well-I think that yesterday (day 5 after chemo), I kind of hit a wall. Guess it's different for each person.
I did go to Hyvee-actually felt good to wander around, buy a few turkey day groceries, and watch people.
Ah-the simple things of life.
Got out today for a bit--if you've never had bianco hot chocolate at Mojava--it's a must!
The day was cold, but bright and sunny--actually felt good to be cold!
Tomorrow-love you all, Nancy

He wraps himself in light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens like a tent and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters. Psalm 104: 2-3
Hi-Today is a pretty good day-the chemo effects kind of catch up with you-but I have some good drugs on hand-yay!
Gerry has been working his buns off today putting up outside Christmas decor. He has been a rock-I couldn't ask for more. He's been to all the doc appointments with me and is a great 2nd set of ears. I thank God for such a good husband!
Em and Gen and Wakeley still here today-out visiting friends right now and running errands. Ang had to return to Omaha for work today. I'm so proud of them all!
We have lots of windows and a great view to the East-I love all the light. Bird feeders, grasses and some crazy golfers to watch (cold lovers).
Thanks for reading; if you ever want me to email just leave your address and I will. Love, Nance

November 18th,2010 First day of treatment, also Nov. 19th post
This is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is Light; in Him there is no darkness at all. 1 John: 1:5
First day of chemo treatment was not too bad, a bit surreal, though. Ger, Ang and Em were at with me at Dr. Midathda's. She is a gem. Thank God for good petscan report!
My little micro-manager angels are cleaning the house today (the 19th)-Gen was able to come to Lincoln after work yesterday. They are definitely a boost!
Thanks for all your prayers--please let me know what I can pray for you.
Love, Nancy
